FREE FITNESS CLASSES ARE SET TO BEGIN IN FOUR OF WALTHAM FOREST'S PARKS.

YOU CAN TRY TAI CHI, FAMILY FITNESS SESSIONS, TENNIS, WALKING, BOOT CAMPS AND MORE.

If your plans to get fit and healthy this year are already waning and you’re finding yourself getting bored of visits to the gym, or pounding the pavements alone on yet another solo jog, then help is at hand.

From Monday 17 March Waltham Forest Council is offering residents the chance to sign up for a wide variety of free fitness classes in four of the borough’s main parks. And it’s not all star jumps and squats – there’s something for everyone with buggy fit, boot camps, parkour and tennis.

The sessions will take place at Langthorne Park, Leytonstone (Birch Grove, E11 4YG); Leyton Jubilee Park, Leyton (Seymour Road or Marsh Lane, E10); Lloyd Park, Walthamstow (Forest Road, E17 4PP) and Ridgeway Park, Chingford (The Ridgeway, Old Church Road, E4).

Each park will have 10 hours of free activities taking place every week. The sessions will be led by an experienced course leader who will be on hand to help you get the most from your workout.

And it couldn’t be easier to sign up for a class. Simply register your details and start signing up for the classes you want to take part in.

Cllr Ahsan Khan, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, told Waltham Forest News: “One of the Council’s major pledges to make Waltham Forest a better place is to give local people access to first-rate leisure opportunities.

“I think the free fitness sessions will be a brilliant way for people to try something new, enjoy our first-rate parks and make new friends from their neighbourhoods along the way. I hope they will help inspire residents to get fit and stay healthy.”

Activities taking place during the day and weekends will begin on Monday 17 March. The sessions taking place after 6pm will begin on Tuesday 1 April, when opening times of the borough’s parks will extend to 10pm each day as the evenings get lighter.

The activities will take place year-round, meaning that you can enjoy watching the changing seasons in the borough’s parks while you improve your fitness levels.

To make sure that there’s something for everyone the classes will range from gentle workouts suitable for all to more intense workouts for those who have achieved a higher level of fitness.
