Gibbons Recreation Ground occupies about four hectares in area. The irregular shape includes access via footpaths to several roads and to other local urban green spaces.

A canal feeder snakes along the southern perimeter and there are three local allotment sites nearby as well as the small, Brentfield Open Space.
